The Hollywood Arab Film Festival announced the award of the “Arab Star” prize to the Tunisian actor Dhafer the Abidine during its second edition, which will be held from April 26 to 29, 2023.
Maykel Bakhoum, director of the Hollywood Arab Film Festival, said he was happy with the presence of Dhafer Abidine among the honors of this second edition, claiming that he deserves this distinction for his artistic career rich in Arab and foreign achievements that have received praise from the public. He stressed that the actor worked hard to realize his dream, making it a model for young budding filmmakers.

Dhafer Abidine is a Tunisian actor which started his artistic career in the early 2000s in foreign works. He became known in Tunisia after participating in several local works, including the series Maktoub in 2008 as well as in films such as El Dawaha in 2009 and Late December in 2010. His fame increased after his participation in several Egyptian dramatic works, of which Vertigo In 2012, Neran Sadeqa In 2013, Farq Tawqit In 2014, Tahet al-Saytara In 2015, Oreedo Rajolan In 2015, Halawet El Dounia alongside Hend Sabry in 2017 and Eugenie nights In 2018. Then, thanks to the huge success of Arouss Beirut, the Lebanese series which lasted 3 seasons in 2019/2020 and 2021. The public also appreciated it in films such as Abu Chnab in 2016 and Caramel in 2017.
In 2021, He made his first film Ghodwa,, whose first had taken place at the Cairo International Film Festival, where he won the Fipresci Prize.
The festival had also announced that during this same edition, the Egyptian director Khairy Beshara would be honored for the whole of his work. Khairy Beshara is considered one of the main pioneers of new realistic cinema in Egypt and in the Arab world.
The second edition of the festival, which bears the name of the famous deceased director Mohamed Khan, will be held from April 26 to 29 at City Walk Hollywood, and will have to accommodate a large number of filmmakers from around the world, in addition to the projection of some of the best film productions.
Among the films selected, the very beautiful I will come back theredirected by Yassine Redissi (Tunisia) and 19 B Ahmad Abdalla (Egypt). These two films had also made their first at the Cairo Film International Film Festival.
The Hollywood Arab Film Festival, launched in 2020, aims to promote and support Arab films and strengthen cultural ties between the United States and the Arab world.
