The full program of Sunday, February 9 at the City of Culture

Close -up on the Japan Festival program which will take place on Sunday, February 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cité de la Culture.

The full program of Japan’s Day is finally known. Organized on the initiative of the Japanese Embassy in Tunisia, this celebration associates several institutions like the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Tunisia-Japan friendship association, the Tunisian-Japanese Chamber of Commerce and former Tunisian students in Japan (JAT).

Note that in parallel with the Japan Festival will take place the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the JICA in Tunisia with a specific program at the Théâtre des Jeunes Créators.

The event will take place on Sunday, February 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in three spaces in the City of Culture according to the following program:

Opera Theater

11 am: opening ceremony with a Japanese drum concert by the Wako Rising Sun group
12 noon: Demonstration of Tunisian Budokas
1:30 p.m.: Screening of the film “The evil does not exist” by Ryūsuke Hamaguchi in the first Maghreb
3.30 p.m.: Japanese drum concert with the Wako Rising Sun group

Theater of young creators

11 am: Traditional Japanese dance
11:20 am: Japanese language with Japanese speeches by Tunisian students
12 noon: Ikebana: Japanese floral art workshop with a Tunisian master
1 p.m.: Celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the JICA and its volunteers with traditional Japanese and Tunisian dances
1:45 p.m.: Traditional japan tales
2:15 p.m.: Violin and piano concert
3 p.m.: Ikebana: Japanese floral art workshop with a Tunisian master

Opera Theater Foyer

1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.: Tea ceremony (cafeteria)
12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.: Kimono dressing demonstration (cafeteria)
All day: five stands will be open permanently from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Stand 1: Traditional children’s toys
Stand 2: Japanese theater, oracles
Stand 3: paper folding
Stand 4: Log information, studies in Japan, trips to Japan, etc.
Stand 5: Kenjo, calligraphy

All activities are freely available and offered free of charge.
