The avenue returns to reading

After the success of the “Avenue Lit” event from last year, Internet users “recur” and launch an invitation to city dwellers in Tunis to go on Thursday, April 18, 2013 on Avenue Habib Bourguiba to read.

The concept is very simple, just settle in any place on the avenue and dive into reading. The purpose of this operation is to encourage people to read. The results of a survey conducted in 2010 on behalf of the Ministry of Culture have shown that 23% of Tunisians have never read a single book in their lives, and that 27% of them have read one.
Only 50% of Tunisians read regularly, and newspapers and textbooks enter statistics.

Promoting reading and popularizing it remains a huge challenge to take up for Tunisians, who most of the time face a major obstacle: the very high price of books.
Note that the event “Avenue Lit”, organized in the capital, last year, was followed by several major cities in Tunisia.

A Facebook page has been created for the event, which, we hope, will be very successful.
