Museum Lab explores twenty-five Tunisian archaeological works with the assistance of Austrian and Tunisian experts at the Sousse Archaeological Museum.
This museum welcomes from February 22 to March 22, a most original event, the fruit of a partnership between Museum Lab, the National Heritage Institute and the Austrian Embassy in Tunisia. The opening of this exhibition entitled “de la Tesselle à Pixel” will take place tomorrow, Saturday February 22 at 2 p.m. and should arouse good convergence between audiences in love with mosaic and digital creations.
The Museum Lab association will thus present an immersive exhibition which offers a trip through the ancient world and the rich history of Tunisia. The Archaeological Museum of Sousse, known for its impressive collections of Roman mosaics and punic objects, lends itself to this innovative exhibition.
Thanks to Austrian know-how, around twenty exposed objects (ten sculptures, ten mosaics and five steles) were treated digitally using photogrammetry technology and augmented reality. They are presented interactively in three languages using mobile phones and tablets in the museum for the period of one month. Students from the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Sousse play the role of mediators and guide visitors through the exhibition.
Thanks to the collaboration of the National Heritage Institute and the support of the Austrian Embassy in Tunisia, Tunisian students and Austrian experts explored as part of a co-creation workshop, set up by Museum Lab, Gigapixel photography technology allowing to reveal the most tiny details of ten archaeological works.
