When Zahira Ben Ammar had taken his first steps in what will become the Sindyana theater, the place had just been burnt down in the revolutionary fever.
By dint of courage and perseverance, we can realize the most difficult dreams. This is the lesson that the actress Zahira Ben Ammar gives us, now at the head of the Sindyana theater, an alternative place built by dint of patience.
It is rue El Azzaffine, not far from the Kasbah that this born artist installed her device for artistic creation and cultural action. Zahira Ben Ammar had the heart to take up fire in burnt down premises which in the past sheltered a Destourian cell. Putting all her energy there, she created a place of life and art there, with the precious support of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
Five years ago, in December 2017, she inaugurated this pocket theater and has since welcomed young people from the surrounding neighborhoods and many artists who are accommodated in this heart of the heart which is at the crossroads of the Medina.
With an open program, Sindyana is a versatile structure which aims to welcome and share. She fully succeeds in it thanks to the ardor of her host who deploys contagious energy and an innovative project.
We had rarely seen a theater open in the medina! Apart from Noureddine Ouerghi to Dar Ben Abdallah, some ephemeral initiatives were born, for a generous dream.
Zahira Ben Ammar has invested in the territory and has the primary objective, the youth of his neighborhood. It multiplies approaches and brings together generations. And of course, she opens the doors of her theater with the four winds of thought and creation.
Everyone knows her talent as an actress on the big and the small screen, through the films of Moufida Tlatli, Mohamed Damak and Ferid Boughedir or in many successful soap operas.
All have also seen Zahira on the boards, in the creations of Fadhel Jaibi and the works of Taoufik Jebali. And today, it is in her new role as a cultural agitator and a mediator that we find the tireless Zahira.
Let us find this artist in her theater and provide our support for this great initiative which gives new clothes to the Medina of Tunis.
