It is on the occasion of the Japan Festival that the film “Evil does not exist” by Ryūsuke Hamaguchi will be screened in the first Maghreb.

The Cité de la Culture will host the first screening of the Japanese film “The Evil does not exist” this Sunday, February 9 at 1:30 pm, as part of the Japan Festival which will be held all day.

Released in Japan in April 2024, the film “The evil does not exist” by Ryūsuke Hamaguchi first distinguished itself by winning the Grand Prix of the Jury of the Venice Mostra in 2023 and also by gleaning the price of the best Asian film.

Interpreted by Hitoshi Omika and Ryo Nishikawa, this film features Takumi and his daughter Hana who live in the village of Mizubiki, near Tokyo.

Like their elders before them, they lead a modest life in harmony with their environment. The project to build a glamorous campsite in the neighboring natural park, offering city dwellers a comfortable escape to nature, will endanger the ecological balance of the site and deeply affect the life of Takumi and the villagers.

Evil does not exist (Aku wa Sonzai shinai) is a Japanese film directed by Ryūsuke Hamaguchi. Lasting 106 minutes, this film was compared to a poetic recall that, flouted or injured, nature always ends up having the last word.
Also to discover, the soundtrack of the film signed Eiko Ishibashi.
