Ravel evening at the Cité de la Culture

Triangular cooperation Tunisia, France and Austria to celebrate the memory of Maurice Ravel in music on Saturday May 24 at 8 p.m. at the Théùtre de l’OpĂ©ra de Tunis.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the French composer Maurice Ravel, the French cellist of international renown Sébastien Hurtaud will perform with the Tunis Symphony Orchestra under the direction of the Maestro Fadi Ben Othman.

The program of this exceptional evening includes works by Maurice Ravel, including the posthumous sonata, the Pavane and the famous Bolero. This posthumous sonata for violin and piano by Maurice Ravel, arranged for cello, was composed in 1897, but was only published in 1975.

The interpretation of the Camille Saint-Saëns cello concerto for cello, a masterpiece, is also on the program of this evening which will take place on Saturday May 24 at 8 p.m. at the Cité de la Culture.

This exceptional concert is the fruit of a collaboration between the Théùtre de l’OpĂ©ra de Tunis, the French Embassy, ​​the French Cultural Institute in Tunisia and the wife of the Austrian Ambassador, Madame Ursula Vavrik.

Sébastien Hurtaud is a cello professor at the Alfred Cortot normal school in Paris and performs as a soloist with renowned orchestras.

This concert offers a varied and accessible overview of the works of two French composers, Maurice Ravel and Camille Saint-Saëns, interpreted by artists of great talent.
