The official opening ceremony for European film days, held Wednesday evening, at Cinédart, in Carthage, was interrupted by a group of pro Palestine demonstrators.
This official ceremony attended by several European ambassadors, was interrupted by six demonstrators waving the Palestinian flag, and who invaded the room where the projection of the opening film, “El Olivo” of the Spanish Iciar Bollain took place.
The demonstrators, members of the “joint action coordination for Palestine”, bringing together NGOs and political parties, chanted slogans hostile to the European Union and denounced its silence in the face of the crimes of the Zionist entity in the Gaza Strip.
After this interruption occurred shortly after the start of the ceremony, the European diplomats present left the room under the pressure of these demonstrators, who then turned from the cinemadart without a notorious incident.
Were notably present at the screening of the opening film, Marcus Cornaro, ambassador of the European Union to Tunisia and Javier Puig Saura, Spanish ambassador to Tunisia.
The days of the European film whose last edition had taken place in 2014 are back after ten years of absence. The days provide for the screening of 20 films in four cities: Tunis, Kef, Menzel Bourguiba (Bizerte) and Jammel (Monastir).
