People incarcerated in Tunisian prisons have their cinematographic days in Carthage. Yesterday, Sunday the civil prison of Borj El Roumi welcomed the opening ceremony of the 10th edition of the JCC in the prisons.
The event took place under the chairmanship of the Director General of Affairs of Detainees from the General Prisons and Rehabilitation Committee (CGPR), Henda Testouri, in the presence of the Director General of the National Cinema and Image Center, Lamia Belgaied Guiga and senior officials from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the General Directorate of Prisons and Rehabilitation.
For this first day, the feature film “Farha” by Jordanian director Darin Sallam was screened. A group of detainees as well as the producer and director of the film attended this screening before a debate around the themes of the film.
In total, nine films will be screened, including four feature films, two short films, two documentaries and an animated film, in the prisons of Sers, Monastir, Gabès, Sfax and Nabeul as well as the Cité de la culture CHEDLI KLIBI for a projection specially dedicated to children detained in rehabilitation centers.
This initiative is part of the objective of further devoting the law of detained persons to prisons and correctional units to the practice of cultural activity. She joined that of the JTC when more than a hundred detainees from eleven prisons presented pieces on the occasion of the 25th edition of the theatrical days of Carthage last November.
