The city of Tozeur opened its arms to its guests on the occasion of the official opening of the first edition of the International Film Festival (Toiff) which started this Wednesday, December 05, 2018 and which will extend until Saturday December 8, 2018 with the participation of several filmmakers, critics and stars of Tunisia and abroad.
“I am deeply happy to kick off this great international event which makes Tozeur one of the most important destinations for manufacturers of Tunisian and foreign films,” said Salah Mtiraoui Governor of Tozeur at the opening of this festival which has the ambition to give to Tozeur his glory of yesteryear as a place of film filming. It should be remembered that it was in Tozeur that very great films such as “Stars Wars”, “The English patient”, “The Promesas de Arena” and so many others were shot.
On this occasion, Tozeur unrolled the red carpet to his guests including Fatma Ben Saidane, Fathi Haddaoui, Najla Ben Abdallah, Mohamed Ali Ben Jemaa, Mohamed Ali Nahdi, Sarra Hannachi, Iba Helmi in addition to a host of representatives of national and foreign media.
During this opening ceremony Ms. Hamida Mrabet, president of the Toiff wanted to salute the support granted by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs to this event. She also thanked all those who contributed to her organization, including the Cité de la Culture and the Association of the Friends of the Jerid, for the considerable efforts they have made.
For his part, Mr.abderrazzak Chraiet, honorary president of the International Film Tozeur Film Film and founding member of the Association of Friends of the Djérid, recalled that this association supports all the demonstrations which aim to increase the influence of Tozeur internationally, adding that this first edition will undoubtedly be limited to the weakness of the means but that it will undoubtedly evolve through time to essential cinematographic.
Recall that the official competition of this festival will be crowned by three prizes, namely: the Golden Scorpion for the best film Fiction Fiction, the Golden Scorpion for the best documentary feature film and the Golden Scorpion for the best short film.
