The Cinegouna Funding platform, flagship initiative of El Gouna Film Festival has just ended its 7ᵉ edition. This year, the organizers have awarded more than $ 400,000 on the scholarships and services to 21 projects from all over the MENA and beyond region, highlighting the creativity and diversity of filmmakers. Two Tunisian film projects won three different prizes.
In 2024, the Cinegouna Funding jury brought together personalities from the world of cinema: Nadia Dresti, Swiss expert, Amjad Abu al-Ala, Sudanese director and producer and Lamia Guiga, Tunisian critic and artistic director of Carthage’s film days. They jointly awarded 40 prizes in collaboration with the festival sponsors, thus uniting their expertise to provide vital support to these projects in the midst of development and post-production phase.
The founders of the festival recalled Cinegouna’s mission: to offer Arab talents an international springboard. AMR Mansi, co-founder and CEO, expressed his enthusiasm: “ The interest of all the cinematographic institutions in the region to support Cinegouna Funding confirms the confidence that the festival has won. Ahmed Shawky, at the head of Cinegouna Funding, underlined the role of the event for the new generation of filmmakers: “ During this edition, the filmmakers of the 21 projects held 174 meetings with companies, institutions and festivals. The distribution of the 40 awards underlines the precious contribution of Cinegouna to the talents of tomorrow, by supporting them directly and by connecting them to a large network of partners. »»
