Dr Mohamed Chandoul was honored by the Governor of the Sharjah Sultan Bin Muhammad al-Qasimi emirate, for his participation in the creation of the Arabic language in the United Arab Emirates. This project brought together several specialists in the Arabic language from various Arab countries, and Dr. Chandoul represented Tunisia there.
Dr. Mohamed Chandoul is a Tunisian linguist who taught in many Tunisian universities. He is also president of several scientific institutions and is active in many associations devoted to language and linguistics.
The Arabic language complex of Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates, announced an unprecedented historical cultural accomplishment: the impression of 127 volumes of the “historical dictionary of the Arabic language”. This first dictionary of this kind in the Arab world documents the evolution of words and meanings through ages and aims to preserve linguistic identity while strengthening the link of generations with the language of their ancestors.
This announcement was made at a press conference organized as part of the International Sharjah Book Fair 2024. This monumental project, which requested seven years of effort, mobilized around 700 teachers and experts from various Arab countries.
