The National Museum of Bardo welcomes a collection of photos from the Madrid Archaeological Museum Fund for six months.

Entitled “Killing in sepia”, the exhibition of old photos of the nineteenth century was inaugurated at the Bardo Museum and should continue for six months, as part of Tunisian-Spanish cooperation.

The same photos are currently exhibited at the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid and come from a collection of works offered by the Bey in Tunis.

These photos which are signed by Garrigues, Neuerdein and other pioneers of photography in Tunisia, date from the 1850s and appear in the fund of the Madrid museum since 1892.

The “Killing in Sepia” collection refers in its title, to the sepia color of the prints of the time and includes clichés of ancient sites, scenes of everyday life and Husseinite palaces.

Note that several archaeological objects belonging to the collections of the Bardo Museum, were integrated into the scenography of this exhibition which will continue until May 2024.
