The closing ceremony of Sfax, capital of Arab culture next week will take place on March 17, 2017.
The Egyptian star Khaled Abol Naga will animate the evening, probably with another person whose name has not yet been revealed.
Two stars will occur during this evening: the Tunisian Saber Rebai and the Egyptian Angham.
During this ceremony, which will assist Mr. Mohamed Zinelabedine, Minister of Culture, a tribute will be paid to Khaled Abol Naga.
The choice fell on this actor/director/producer for several reasons, one of them being that he is Egyptian and that the torch of the capital of Arab culture will be transmitted to the Egyptian city of Luxor.
Choosing Khaled Abol Naga to animate the closing ceremony is very judicious. Indeed, before becoming a star of Arab cinema, Khaled had a successful career in several television channels in the Arab world, such as MBC, as an animator in prime time shows from 1997 to 2005.
Khaled Abol Naga was in Tunisia in last Septemberto participate in International Arabic Film Festival of Gabes (FIFAG). His film Extraordinary powers (Qoudouratt Ghair 3adya) was in competition there and a won the public prize. During his stay in Gabès, he said he was always ready to help culture, particularly in southern cities. So here it is back, and this time in the southern capital.
Just for the anecdote, we can remember that the very first film by Khaled Abol Naga had been shot in Tunisia and more precisely in Sousse. C‘was in 1977, for the film The madness of love (Gounou El Hob), with Nagla Fathy and Hussein Fahmy. He was 11 years old.
Besides, his film Microphonedirected by Ahmad Abdallah and co -produced by Mohamed Hefzy (Flim Clinic) had won the Tanit d’Or during the 2010 JCC. Microphone is a film that marked a turning point in Khaled Abol Naga’s career and even in the history of Egyptian cinema.
The two films Heliopolis And Microphoneof the same director and with Khaled Abol Naga in the main role, were the starting point for a new wave of independent cinema in Egypt.
Last December, during the first cinematographic meetings of Hassi Messaoud “Films nominated at the Oscars” in Algeria, a tribute had been paid to Khaled Abol Naga. He is indeed the only Arab actor to have had four films submitted to the Oscars for the best film in a foreign language, three times by Egypt for his films Sahar al Layali In 2003, In Helipolis’s apartment In 2007, UN- ZERO in 2009 and once by Palestine, for her film The eyes of a thief in 2014.
