Two musical evenings in intercultural, Spanish and Swiss colors are on the program of the center of Arab and Mediterranean music on October 7 and 10.

The “Contemparabic Jazz Ensemble” has a musical adventure, a meeting and a mixture of styles in constant evolution.

The musicians live in Tunisia (Samiha Ben Said – Song/ Quantity; Samir Ferjani – Nay flute), France (Benji Fellous – Arab percussion; Bernard Vidal – guitar) and Switzerland (Dave Feusi – Saxphone, Tony Renold – Battery, Stephan Athanas – Basse, Composition).

With its compositions and arrangements of Arabic music, this set explores new sounds.
The group will be in concert at Ennejma Ezzahra on October 10 from 8 p.m. in partnership with the Swiss cultural institution Pro Helvètia.

Three days before this meeting with mixed jazz, on October 7 at 7:30 p.m., the Spanish Embassy in Tunisia and the Instituto Cervantes, in collaboration with the Center for Arab and Mediterranean music, invited the pianist virtuoso and singer Sheila Blanco for a concert dedicated to the poets of the 1927 generation.

“In his project” Cantando a las poetas del 27 ″, the versatile artist Sheila Blanco transformed into captivating musical compositions a selection of poems of the great poets of the generation of 27. With the only company a piano, Sheila gives life and meaning to the verses of Carmen Conde, Ernestina de Champourcin, Concha Méndez, Pilar de Valderrama, Margarita Ferreras, Josefina Romo Arregui and Dolores Catarinéu.

His musical interpretation draws from the emotions that permeate the collections of poetry of these poets, exploring universal themes that are personalized in the life of each of them, such as love, pain, exile, beauty, sorrow and remorse.

Two musical evenings to follow in the sumptuous Palais Ennejma Ezzahra in Sidi Bou Said.
