Stéphane Romatet, Ambassador of France to Egypt, presented today, the insignia of officer of the Order of Arts and Letters to the actress Hend Sabry and knight to the producer and president of the Cairo Film International Film Festival, Mohamed Hefzy, At the French residence in a small committee because of the COVVID PANDEMIE 19.
On this occasion, Hend Sabry said: “This appointment as the youngest Arab woman, officer of arts and letters, is a new stone with the solid foundation of my relationship with France. Coming from a French education in Tunisia, I then participated in several films co -produced by France. For more than 10 years, I have also been Garnier’s ambassador in the Arab world. Today, I transmit to my two daughters and my audience all the richness of this double identity that I claim».
In 2014, Hend Sabry had already been named “knight of arts and letters”.
The Order of Arts and Letters is a French honorary decoration which, managed by the Ministry of Culture, awards “the people who have distinguished themselves by their creation in the artistic or literary field or by the contribution they brought to the influence of arts and letters in France and in the world”.
This honorary order includes three grades conferred by decree of the Minister of Culture after advice of the prefect and the Council of the Order of Arts and Letters, the promotions taking place in January and July of each year for French citizens, in March for foreigners:
