More than $ 380,000 in cash and services awarded to 20 participating Arab projects.
The El Gouna Film Festival unveils the details of the sixth edition, which will take place from December 14 to 19, 2023 by Cinegouna Springboard, the project development platform and co -production of the festival.
Cinegouna Springboard received more than 160 submissions from all regions of the Arab world. An expert committee examined the submissions and selected 13 development projects (7 fictions and 6 documentaries) and 7 post-production films (2 fictions and 5 documentaries). The selected projects, representing 9 Arab countries, will contribute for cash prices and in kind of value exceeding 380,000 US dollars.
The directors and producers of the selected projects listed above will present their projects and their work in progress to producers, financing organizations, distributors, sales agents and festival programmers in order to receive constructive comments. In addition, private meetings are planned for filmmakers with experts and mentors to help them refine their scripts or raw montages, in order to improve their chances of regional and international cooperation. All selected development projects and post-production films will compete for prizes awarded by a jury of experts from the film industry.
The Jury of Cinegouna Springboard 2023 will be composed of the Tunisian producer Habib Attia, the French producer Guillaume de Seille, as well as the Egyptian director and screenwriter Hala Khalil.
The best development project and the best post-production film will receive a Cinegouna Platform certificate and a cash award of US 15,000 dollars each. Additional cash prices and awards are presented in partnership with local, regional and international institutions (the full list of prices is at the end of the press release).
Three cinema experts will supervise the selected projects during direct supervision sessions during which they will develop the skills of filmmakers. Experts from the 6th edition of Cinegouna Springboard are the Egyptian director Jihan El Tahri, the French producer Marie Balducchi and the Palestinian director Najwa Najjar.
