The preparations for Carthage’s film days for their next exceptional edition were the central point of a meeting chaired by the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Ms. Hayet Guermazi, in the presence of members of the festival steering committee. This meeting took place on Monday September 11, 2023.

The Minister highlighted the importance of celebrating the centenary of Tunisian cinema through the most important cinematographic event in our country, during an exceptional edition which returns to its roots while preserving its unique identity within the constellation of global festivals.

The various aspects of this event have been discussed, particularly emphasizing decentralization with the programming of film screenings in the interior regions and in prisons. In addition, the organization of an exhibition dedicated to the centenary of Tunisian cinema at the Cité de la Culture Chedly Klibi was announced, in collaboration with national television, the National Archives and the Tunis Africa Press (TAP). An international conference dedicated to this artistic field is also on the program.

During this meeting, the key partners in various sectors were discussed to guarantee the success of this event, with a particular emphasis on the coordination of media dissemination, in particular in historical sites, in partnership with the Heritage and Cultural Development Agency, with the aim of attracting a large audience to this cinematographic event.

This year, the opening ceremony of Carthage’s cinematographic days, in their exceptional edition, will be held in the room the Colisée de la Capitale. The moviegoers will thus have the opportunity to discover restored Tunisian cinema classics, as well as recent or unpublished films. In addition, African and Arab films will also be playing, in accordance with the philosophy of this prestigious event.
