Golden Eve Golden Globes

American network CBS and Dick Clark Productions (DCP), the world’s largest producer of live televised entertainment, have announced the launch of a new annual broadcast set to become a highlight of Hollywood’s awards season. Called Golden Eve, this prime-time program will be dedicated to the honorees of the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award and the Carol Burnett Award. The first edition will air nationwide on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, as well as streaming on Paramount+.

Conceived as a landmark event, Golden Eve will take place during the very first “Golden Week,” a weeklong celebration of the Golden Globes across Paramount platforms. This unprecedented initiative will precede the 83rd Golden Globes®, which will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, hosted live by comedian and actress Nikki Glaser, who has already been nominated for Golden Globes, Grammy Awards, and Emmy Awards.

A New Showcase for Hollywood Legends

The idea behind this special evening is to bring greater visibility to the two honorary awards that hold a unique place in Golden Globes history. Too often limited to just a few minutes during the main ceremony, they will now enjoy a dedicated stage, with extended tributes and exclusive segments retracing the careers and cultural impact of the distinguished honorees.

Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, emphasized: “With Golden Eve, we will celebrate the most influential figures in the industry. It’s a special moment to honor them beyond the simple presentation of an award. This event, at the heart of Golden Week, will position the Golden Globes as a multi-day cultural experience, a true pillar of awards season.”

From CBS, Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment, stressed the network’s commitment to artistic creation: “With Golden Eve and Golden Week, we will turn the Golden Globes into an immersive and unifying moment that brings audiences closer to one of Hollywood’s most iconic events.”

Helen Hoehne, President of the Golden Globes, added: “The goal is to give the public a more intimate look at the legacy of our honorees and to share memorable moments with them. Together with CBS and Paramount, we want to make this an unforgettable night of television.”

A Natural Evolution After the Success of the Golden Gala

The announcement of Golden Eve follows the success of the “Golden Gala” held the previous year, which honored Viola Davis (Cecil B. DeMille Award) and Ted Danson (Carol Burnett Award). Buoyed by that reception, the event is now evolving into an annual program featuring career retrospectives, rare archival footage, and exclusive interviews with the honorees.

These two awards, embodying the living memory of the Golden Globes, have a long tradition. Established in 1952, the Cecil B. DeMille Award has honored 69 major figures in world cinema, including Walt Disney, Audrey Hepburn, Sidney Poitier, Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Redford, Barbra Streisand, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, and Oprah Winfrey. The Carol Burnett Award, created in 2019 in tribute to the legendary actress and comedian who was its first recipient, recognizes those whose careers have left a lasting mark on the television landscape, both in front of and behind the camera.

The Golden Globes, a Global Institution

Widely regarded as “Hollywood’s most glamorous party,” the Golden Globes stand out for their extraordinary international reach, broadcast in more than 185 countries and territories. Since their creation in 1944, they have honored achievements in film and television, and more recently in podcasting. They have also positioned themselves as a socially committed institution, contributing more than $55 million to entertainment-related charities, scholarship programs, film restoration projects, and initiatives aimed at increasing access to the industry for underrepresented communities.

The organization and production of the Golden Globes are overseen by Dick Clark Productions, which also manages a vast portfolio of iconic events, from the American Music Awards and the Billboard Music Awards to the legendary Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

For the past two years, I have had the honor of being an international voter, a rare distinction that makes me the only Tunisian film critic based in Tunisia to hold this position. Being part of this journey means entering the heart of a process that shapes the visibility of works and the careers of many artists. Beyond the prestige, it is a true responsibility: to bring a Tunisian and Arab perspective into a Hollywood institution that has long been focused on a limited horizon. My vote, like that of other members, reflects a conviction: cinema must be seen in all its diversity, in all its cultural richness — and I feel privileged to contribute to that.

With Golden Eve, the Golden Globes are taking another step forward in their commitment to magnifying not only the annual performances but also the lasting legacies of artists and creators whose influence extends far beyond film and television. The inaugural edition, scheduled for January 2026, is already set to be one of the season’s major cultural events, marking the beginning of a “Golden Week” that promises to become a new Hollywood tradition.
