The Arab Cinema Center (CCA) is preparing to celebrate its 10th anniversary during the 77th Cannes Film Festival by collaborating with the film market and Mad Celebrity. This alliance promises a captivating program of round tables and prestigious ceremonies. Since its creation by Mad Solutions in 2015, the CCA has established itself as an essential showcase of Arab cinematographic talent, with the aim of making the narrative and artistic richness of the Middle East region and North Africa (MENA) shine on the international scene.
This year, CCA activities will be specially designed to highlight Arab creative talent, both in front and behind the camera. With a program comprising four separate panel sessions, as well as The highly anticipated annual ceremony for criticism prices for Arab filmsthe CCA promises a week rich in discussions and recognition of Arab cinema. All these events will take place at the prestigious Palmes beach, an emblematic place shared by the Cannes Film Festival and the film market.

The festivities will start with a three -hour event entitled “Foyer de talent: how Arab artists and craftsmen conquer the world of entertainment” (May 17 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm), which will be presented by the CCA, and Mad Celebrity and will consist of two panels filled with celebrities, followed by an hour’s reception by invitation only.
The first panel, “The new Arab wave: the actors,” led by Melanie Goodfellow of Deadline, will highlight the rising stars of Arabic cinema in a common discussion on the opportunities and the challenges that they face to break into the international scene. Then, “the new Arab wave: the artists and craftsmen,” hosted by Michael Rosser of Screen International, will celebrate the work of the new generation of talents working behind the camera. This session will plunge into their international career paths, highlighting the necessary stages so that more of these exceptional artists obtain recognition beyond the MENA region.
The next day, on May 18, the CCA, Mad Solutions, the IEFTA (the International Association of Emerging Cinematographic Talents) and the International Neft Talents Competition will organize the annual criticism prize ceremony for Arab films (5:00 p.m.-9:00 a.m.). Launched in 2017 by the CCA at the Cannes Film Festival, this award ceremony offers a platform to a jury of more than 200 international cinema reviews to select and honor the best of recent Arab cinema in many prize categories.
Finally, on May 20, the CCA-in collaboration with the IEFTA and the UNHCR-will present a panel of an pressing news entitled “Travel: Cinematographic perspectives” (9:30 am-11:00 am). Journalist Hadley Gamble will host a stimulating discussion with an ambassador of the UNHCR, accompanied by the winner of the Princess Grace Prize & Director selected by the IEFTA, Daniela Meals. This panel will highlight the power of cinema in the representation and address of the challenges of displacement.
The last CCA event will then follow, “Jordan: case study on sustainable growth,” a high -level panel animated by Nick Vivarelli de Variety, which will bring together many of the main players in the Jordanian film industry who made their country a world model for the construction of a local narrative infrastructure for long -term sustainable success.
