The Cannes Film Festival has just unveiled the poster of its 75th edition which will be held from May 17 to 28, 2022.
While the poster of the 74th edition which had been held exceptionally in July 2021, had paid a tribute to director Spike Lee, president of the jurythe poster for this 75th edition pays tribute to the film The Truman Show Directed by Peter Weir.
On this very beautiful poster, we see Jim Carrey, from back, in this famous plan where his character, Truman, sets up a staircase and discovers a door in a tube in trompe-l’oeil and realizes that since his birth, he was trapped in a dummy world and that his whole life was in fact a reality show seen by millions of people around the world.

Here’s how the festival presented this poster: “Steps walking towards revelation. A poetic celebration of elusive and freedom. An ascent to overlook the past and advance towards the promise of a revival.
Like the unforgettable Truman embodied by Jim Carrey who borders on his fingertips his horizon, the Cannes Festival takes note of the end of a world to understand it again. Climate crisis, humanitarian disasters, armed conflicts: there are many reasons for concern. As in 1939 and then in 1946, Cannes reaffirmed his conviction that art and cinema were places of reflection and contributed to the reinvention of the world. And do not forget anything about its founding commitment describes in article 1 of its regulation: “The purpose of the Film Festival of the film aims, in a spirit of friendship and universal cooperation, to reveal and enhance quality works in order to serve the evolution of cinematographic art”.
Modern evocation of the myth of the Plato cave, The Truman Show From the duo Peter Weir-Andrew Niccol and directed by Peter Weir (1998) and this decisive scene in particular invite the viewer to touch the border between reality and its representation as much as to question the powers of fiction, between manipulation and catharsis. And if Truman, by this climb, escapes the lie, the festival, by the ascent of its red marches, proposes to enter a cinema to discover the truth of the artists ”.
