Since the 73rd edition of the Cannes Film Festival which was to take place in May 2020, unfortunately had to be canceled Because of the COVID 19 pandemic, the festival management had tried to find spare solutions so that the selected films do not suffer from this situation.
In June, the official selection had been unveiled, and the management of the festival had announced that it would do everything possible to promote these films and accompany them.
It had also been allowed the 56 films selected to display the official logo of the Cannes Film Festival. What is already a way to promote them, especially when they releases in theaters or during their participations in other festivals. Indeed, this famous logo, with the expression “official selection” is considered a great advantage for any film, because it increases its chances of being selected in other important cinema festivals, but also allows it a better distribution all over the world and at a more advantageous price.
The festival management had also held, throughout the months, to ensure that these selected films could be screened in other important festivals, as was the case for the Deauville American Film Festival (10 selection films), the San Sebastian Festival (17 films), the Lumière Festival (23 films of the official selection and 15 films of the Cannes Classics selection) Rome film whose opening film was precisely Drunk De Pete Doctor, and soon the International Film Festival of Pusan film in South Korea with 23 films as part of a program dedicated to Cannes 2020.
But lately, the management of the Cannes Film Festival announced by press release that an event ” Special Cannes 2020 »Will be held on the Croisette, from October 27 to 29, 2020.
This event, organized in collaboration with the town hall of Cannes, will be held at the Palais des Festivals and Congresses.
On the program, four film previews of the 2020 official selection as well as the short films selected in competition and the school films of Cinéfondation. Of course, as every year, the jury of short films and the Cinéfondation School Film Competition will attribute the Palme d’Or du Court film among the 11 films selected in competition, and will award the three prizes of the Cinéfondation to the best of the 17 films of cinema schools presented.
“Special Cannes 2020” will open with the film A triumph by Emmanuel Courcol with Kad Merad, in the presence of the film team, and will end with the film’s preview The two Alfred by Bruno Podalydès, in the presence of the director and the main actress Sandrine Kiberlain. Asa Ga Kuru – True Mothers of Japanese director Naomi Kawase, faithful of the Cannes Film Festival, as well as the first film by the Georgian Daa Kulumbegashvili, Beginning – At the beginning Who has just won the CONCHA de ORO for the best film and the prices of best director, best screenplay and best actress at the San Sébastian festival, will also be projected.

The 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival is scheduled for May 11 to 22, 2021.
