82 pieces from 23 countries presented

Twelve Arab and African pieces will be in competition in the Tanit d’Or race of the 23rd theatrical days of Carthage who will welcome 82 theatrical works this year in 23 countries.

On the occasion of these JTCs, which will take place from December 3 to 10, the City of Culture will host, as every year, the opening and fence ceremonies.

After Egypt in 2021, Senegal will be the guest of honor of this 23rd edition with a tribute, which will thus be paid to a large figure in Senegal and the African continent Léopold Sedar Senghor.

Postthumous tributes will also be paid to Hichem Rostom, actor, director, director and former director of the JTC, as well as to actors Taoufik Bahri, Sadok Mejri, Mongi Tounsi, Ismail Bouslama, Bechir Khamouma and to the visual artist Adel Megdiche.

Tunisians Salwa Mohamed, Mohamed Yangui and Alaeddine Ayoub, the Egyptian Souir Morrchedi, the Syrian Ayman Zaydan, the Iraqi Kacem Bayatli and the Malian Habib Dembélé who is at the same time actor, director, poet and storyteller, will also be at the heart of the mamages provided for the actors and actresses Arab and African.

The Complete JTC program has been unveiled today at the Cité de la Culture by the steering committee, chaired this year by Nissaf Ben Hafsia.

Thus 12 pieces will be in competition with 31 plays off competition, 12 plays from the Théâtre du Monde, 4 amateur plays and 7 plays for children and 8 street shows.

The opening ceremony will take place, on Saturday, December 3, at the Grande Salle du Théâtre de l’Opéra de Tunis. On this occasion, “me the king” by Moez Hamza and “just a smile” by Hatem Derbel will be presented, respectively at the theater of the regions, at the Cité de la Culture, and in the Rio de Tunis room.
