A winter disturbance is crossing the country this Wednesday, bringing sustained rain, a sudden drop in temperatures and snowy episodes on the western hills. Several regions are facing difficult weather conditions, announcing a day of high vigilance.
A cold air mass settled over Tunisia this Wednesday, causing a significant deterioration in weather conditions over a large part of the country.
The north and center of the country are affected by sometimes sustained rains accompanied by thunderstorms, while certain southern regions are also affected by scattered precipitation. However, according to forecasts, the intensity of this rain should gradually decrease over the course of the day.
Snow on the Western Heights
The most notable phenomenon remains the appearance of snow on the western heights. The regions of Thala and Kasserine recorded snowfall, providing an unusual winter landscape and confirming the strength of this cold snap.
These conditions could complicate traffic in mountainous areas and require particular caution.
A marked drop in temperatures
The drop in temperatures further accentuates the rigorous nature of this episode. The maximums show a clear drop and are between 9 and 14 degrees in most regions. On the heights, the mercury drops to 5 degrees, while the extreme south-east does not exceed 16 degrees, despite a generally milder situation.
This winter episode reminds us of the vulnerability of several regions to sudden seasonal climatic changes. The authorities are calling for vigilance, particularly for travel and outdoor activities.
