As the end-of-year holidays approach, a period marked by a seasonal increase in consumption, control operations relating to food products continue throughout the national territory. According to figures from the National Authority for Food Safety (INSSPA) published by the TAP agency, these interventions have given rise to significant seizures since the start of the year.
The destruction of 1,829 tonnes of non-compliant food products
Between January and the end of November 2025, 57,831 control visits were carried out in different regions of the country. These operations resulted in the seizure and destruction of 1,829 tonnes of non-compliant food products intended for consumption on the local market.
The controls covered the entire marketing chain, including retail stores, supermarkets, storage spaces as well as catering and accommodation establishments, with particular attention paid to high-consumption products during the holiday period.
Imports and exports also affected
Alongside internal market controls, 2,634 food import applications were examined during the same period. Fifty-five files were refused for non-compliance with the health safety rules in force in Tunisia.
Regarding exports, 14,908 control operations were carried out after receiving requests from operators. Fifty refusals were recorded due to non-compliance of products with applicable standards.
These figures reflect the continuation of health control actions on the national food market, in a context of seasonal strengthening of operations as the end-of-year festivities approach.
