Hédia Mansour was elected president of the Tunisian Swimming Federation (FTN) for the 2025-2028 term, marking an important step in the governance of aquatic sport in Tunisia. The election took place on Saturday during the elective general assembly, with a single list winning the required majority.

The election of Hédia Mansour as head of the FTN was held on December 20, 2025, during an elective general assembly organized in accordance with the internal regulations of the federal body. His list, presented without a competitor, obtained the majority of votes from the members present, thus validating his leadership for the next three years.

A turning point for Tunisian swimming

The elected list is made up of sporting and administrative personalities: Hédia Mansour (president), Mohamed Mettigi, Rim Ouaghlissi, Maher Somaï, Youssef Mlayeh, Mohamed Taha Ben Slimane, Abdelwahab Kamoun, Mohamed Jomaa, Abdelkarim Touati, Mohamed Ali Boufayed, Anis Sdoud and Fathi Ben Zekri.

The election of HĂ©dia Mansour comes at a pivotal moment for Tunisian swimming. The FTN brings together aquatic disciplines – sport swimming, open water, synchronized, diving and water polo – and organizes national competitions while managing Tunisian national teams in international competitions.

This renewal of leadership comes after recent institutional upheavals, including the dissolution of the previous FTN office in 2024 following a controversial incident involving the national flag during a competition and sanctions linked to the World Anti-Doping Agency, which led to the establishment of an interim office.

Sporting and organizational challenges

At the heart of the new president’s missions is the relaunch of Tunisian swimming both nationally and internationally. The Tunisian national team, under the aegis of the FTN, notably made an impression during the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, where swimmer Ahmed Jaouadi achieved historic performances by winning two world titles in the 800m and 1500m freestyle.

At the head of the FTN, Hédia Mansour will have to consolidate infrastructures, strengthen the training of coaches, optimize national competition circuits and keep Tunisia on the international aquatic scene, while ensuring compliance with anti-doping standards and good sports governance practices. The exercise of his mandate is also accompanied by the need to restore the confidence of the sports community after recent institutional events.
