A desert depression from Algeria will begin to influence the weather in Tunisia from this Friday, bringing regular rain and a gradual drop in temperatures. According to experts, the situation remains normal.
Tunisia is preparing to experience an unstable weather sequence marked by precipitation and a marked cooling. A desert depression, already weakened after passing through Algeria, will bring moderate to sometimes locally heavy rains, without a dangerous nature.
A weakened but active depression
Geography professor and natural risks researcher Ameur Bahba indicated on Mosaique fm that the country will come under the influence of a desert depression coming from the west. He wanted to reassure about its intensity, specifying that this system lost part of its strength and humidity while crossing Algeria.
Some observers have drawn a parallel with the recent floods recorded in Morocco. An erroneous reading, according to the specialist, who explains that the depression concerned followed a different trajectory and largely weakened before reaching the region. As it approaches the Tunisian coast, particularly the Gulf of Gabès, its activity could increase slightly, without however exceeding a normal threshold.
Regular rains until the end of December
The expected accumulations will vary between 10 and 40 millimeters from midday this Friday and will continue until Saturday. Precipitation should then continue almost daily until the end of December and the beginning of January, affecting all regions of the country.
This rainy episode will be accompanied by a notable cooling, with falling temperatures in most regions, reinforcing the winter feeling as the days go by.
