The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company continues to apply its exceptional measures to facilitate the payment of unpaid bills. The system, intended for customers in difficulty, remains accessible until the end of March.
An extended system to lighten the burden on subscribers
The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) announced the continuation of the exceptional measures put in place to allow its customers to regularize their unpaid electricity bills. This initiative is part of an approach aimed at taking into account the economic and social conditions of some subscribers facing payment difficulties.
Customers wishing to benefit from this system are invited to submit a request to STEG services during the period between December 22 and March 31. This approach conditions access to the facilities granted under this support program.
Timelines that can extend up to seven years
Initially introduced at the start of the year, these measures allow the rescheduling of debts accumulated for invoices recorded until February 19. The amounts due can be spread over monthly payments spread over a period of up to seven years, depending on the level of the debt.
STEG specifies that this system concerns customers falling into the category whose monthly consumption does not exceed 400 kilowatt hours. For these subscribers, the installment is calculated on the basis of the overall amount of arrears, with the aim of facilitating the progressive settlement of the sums due without worsening the financial situation of the households concerned.
