An unstable weather situation is setting in across the country with precipitation expected in several regions. According to forecasts, certain sectors could record significant accumulations, particularly in the East and the South.
Heavy rainfall today
The weather conditions are favorable for the appearance of scattered rains, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, particularly in the southern regions. According to the National Institute of Meteorology, precipitation is expected to increase in intensity throughout the afternoon, particularly in the South-West.
The expected accumulations generally vary between 20 and 40 millimeters, with showers which could spread locally towards the central and then northern regions, but with a more moderate intensity.
Persistent instability throughout the country
The situation is expected to remain unstable over the following day, with rain forecast in most regions. Precipitation will be temporarily stormy and sometimes sustained, particularly during the morning in the South-East.
In the afternoon, the rains will mainly affect the eastern coastal areas, affecting the Center and the North. The largest quantities could reach between 30 and 50 millimeters, particularly in the regions of Cap Bon, Sahel and Sfax, according to estimates from meteorological services.
