This Wednesday, December 17, 2025, several gatherings were observed on Avenue Habib Bourguiba in Tunis, on the occasion of the fifteenth commemoration of the Tunisian revolution.
In the early hours of the day, the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, went to the Municipal Theater, where he was welcomed by a group of citizens brandishing banners of support and solidarity. Videos broadcast on social networks and taken up by certain media showed this scene, testifying to a warm welcome for the head of state.
This presidential visit comes a few hours before a large march organized by supporters of “July 25”, a movement supporting the initiatives and decisions of the president.
Rallies in Tunis
This mobilization comes in a context where other groups of demonstrators chose to gather today in Tunis to protest against what they perceive as foreign interference in national affairs, thus expressing a wide range of opinions and demands in the capital.
The coincidence of these different gatherings underlines the symbolic nature of the date of December 17, which marks the start of the Tunisian revolution of 2010, while reflecting the current polarization of public opinion around the actions of the president and questions of national sovereignty.
