The activity of the CPG was paralyzed this Friday morning in Mdhilla after a strike which affected all units. The workers are demanding the payment of late bonuses and the implementation of agreements that have not been followed up on.
All units of the Gafsa Phosphate Company in Mdhilla – administration, laundries and extraction sites – found themselves at a standstill this Friday morning. The strike movement led to an almost total blockage of usual operations.
Social demands and bonuses pending
The workers explain that they stopped working to obtain payment of the 2024 productivity bonus and the introduction of a bonus equivalent to a “thirteenth month”.
They also demand the implementation of the minutes of agreement signed at previous meetings, but which, according to them, have never been implemented.
Several workers claim that discussions initiated in the past with management have remained without concrete results. The absence of effective measures would have increased frustration and led to the start of this strike which they describe as a “last resort”.
The sudden blockage of units risks disrupting the pace of extraction and supply in one of the important centers of the CPG.
