The President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed received yesterday, Tuesday December 2, 2025, the Japanese Ambassador to Tunisia, Takeshi Osuga, who came to present his end of mission greetings. A meeting under the sign of friendship, assessment and perspectives, as the two countries prepare to celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations.

The Head of State praised the solidity of Tunisian-Japanese ties, recalling the tangible results obtained both bilaterally and within the framework of TICAD, the Tokyo international conference on development in Africa.

He underlined the importance of the edition organized in Tunis in 2022 as well as the high-level Tunisian participation in TICAD 9 held last August in Yokohama. Kaïs Saïed reaffirmed Tunisia’s desire to further strengthen this cooperation in all areas, particularly through new joint projects likely to open up promising horizons.

Takeshi Osuga, for his part, expressed his deep gratitude for the support received throughout his mission. He insisted on the mutual trust which marks the relationship between the two countries and on the positive dynamic of bilateral cooperation.

Expand cooperation

The ambassador also highlighted Japan’s interest in expanding its investments in Tunisia, particularly in infrastructure, a strategic sector for both partners. He finally underlined Japan’s commitment to continuing the development of projects serving both peoples.

With this diplomatic handover, Tunis and Tokyo confirm their common desire to anchor sustainable, modernized cooperation focused on structuring projects.
