The Carthage Cinematographic Days festival has unveiled the official list of short films competing for its 36th edition. Sixteen films from ten Arab and African countries will compete from December 13 to 20, 2025, including three Tunisian works.
Announcement of the selection and challenges of the competition
The management of the JCC published this Monday the list of films in competition on its Facebook page, confirming a narrow selection around sixteen short films from ten countries. This 36th edition, scheduled for December 13 to 20, 2025, will highlight young filmmakers and established names in African and Arab cinema.
Three Tunisian shorts were selected: Reprieve by Walid Tayaa, Tomatoes maudits by Marwa Tiba and The Burden of the Wings by Rami Jarboui. They will face a varied selection which places Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine and Senegal among the most represented countries, each with two films.
Overview of competing countries
The selected productions also come from South Africa, Algeria, Cape Verde, Togo and Syria. The programming reflects aesthetic and thematic diversity, oscillating between intimate stories, social realities, visual experiments and documentary approaches.
