Chinese multinational Foxit chooses Tunis as a gateway to Africa

The Chinese giant Foxit, a global player in document management and electronic signature solutions, has announced its intention to set up a subsidiary in Tunisia to manage its expansion on the African continent.

This approach comes after a meeting in Beijing between the Tunisian embassy and company officials, attracted by local digital skills and the country’s strategic position.

A strategic location in the heart of digital Africa

During an interview held Wednesday at the Tunisian embassy in China, Foxit’s director of international development, Zhang Lu, officially expressed the group’s desire to establish an operational structure in Tunisia.

The company, already present in America, Australia and Europe, sees in Tunis an ideal platform for its African roots, favoring both geographical proximity, the stability of infrastructures and the reputation of Tunisian engineers in digital technologies.

Ambassador Adel Arbi, accompanied by economic advisor Abdelkhalek Dhakkar, presented the incentives, support mechanisms and competitive advantages enjoyed by foreign investors.

He also recalled that Tunisia is among the most advanced countries in Africa in terms of software development, a key asset for attracting a global player in documentary solutions.

Active economic diplomacy

This discussion in Beijing is part of the ongoing efforts of Tunisian diplomacy to attract more Chinese technological investments. For Foxit, founded in the province of Fujian, the establishment in Tunisia would serve as a regional base to meet a growing African demand for digitalization, dematerialization of procedures and electronic signature solutions.

The project thus marks an important step in the rapprochement between Tunisia and the Chinese technological ecosystem, in a context where the Tunisian public authorities seek to strengthen the country’s place as a continental digital hub.

The potential arrival of a global player like Foxit could boost the local digital sector, promote technology transfer and offer new partnership opportunities for Tunisian startups.

In addition to the economic benefits, this establishment would strengthen the image of Tunisia as a preferred destination for the software and innovation industries.
