Sarah Jessica Parker will be honored with the Carol Burnett Award at the 2026 Golden Globes, to be broadcast on CBS on January 8 — just days before the 83rd annual ceremony on January 11. The award recognizes her outstanding career and her lasting impact on television, both in front of and behind the camera.

Known worldwide for her iconic portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, Parker becomes the sixth recipient of the Carol Burnett Award, created in 2019 to honor the legendary comedian. She joins a distinguished group that includes Carol Burnett herself, Ellen DeGeneres, Norman Lear, Ryan Murphy, and Ted Danson — artists whose work has shaped the history of television.

A Defining Voice for a Generation

Winner of four Golden Globes for her leading role in Sex and the City — a show that also claimed three consecutive awards for Best Comedy Series — Parker has left an indelible mark on pop culture. Her character Carrie Bradshaw, the witty, introspective columnist navigating life and love in New York, became a symbol of modern femininity at the turn of the millennium: confident yet vulnerable, glamorous yet real.

Parker has continued to expand that legacy through And Just Like That, HBO’s sequel to the original series. Now in its third season, the show revisits its beloved characters as they navigate friendship, aging, and contemporary womanhood. Parker serves not only as star but also as producer, further cementing her role as a creative force in television.

From Screen to Stage — A Multifaceted Career

Though television made her a global icon, Parker’s career extends far beyond the small screen. Her film credits include Hocus Pocus and its sequel, The Family Stone, Failure to Launch, The First Wives Club, Ed Wood, and Mars Attacks!, among many others. She has also been recognized with an Emmy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award, confirming her status as one of Hollywood’s most respected talents.

“Sarah Jessica Parker’s career embodies the very spirit of the Carol Burnett Award,” said Golden Globes President Helen Hoehne. “Her trailblazing impact on television and her dedication to storytelling across stage and screen have left an indelible mark on popular culture. We are honored to celebrate her extraordinary contributions to entertainment.”

Honoring Two Icons: Parker and Mirren

The upcoming special, titled Golden Eve, will also celebrate Helen Mirren, recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in film. The primetime broadcast — airing January 8 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ — will feature career retrospectives, personal tributes, and archival Golden Globes moments, offering an intimate look at the honorees’ legacies.

The event launches Golden Week, a newly branded, weeklong celebration across Paramount platforms leading up to the main ceremony on January 11, hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, a Golden Globe, Grammy, and Emmy nominee.

A Tradition of Excellence and Legacy

Since 1944, the Golden Globes have stood as one of Hollywood’s most prestigious celebrations of film and television. The Carol Burnett Award, introduced in 2019, honors individuals whose work has redefined the television landscape and inspired audiences worldwide.

Meanwhile, the Cecil B. DeMille Award—established in 1952—has recognized legends such as Walt Disney, Audrey Hepburn, Sidney Poitier, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Redford, Barbra Streisand, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, and Oprah Winfrey.

With Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Mirren as this year’s honorees, the 2026 Golden Globes celebrate two women whose artistry and endurance continue to shape the storytelling traditions of modern entertainment.

The Enduring Spirit of the Golden Globes

Beyond the spotlight, the Golden Globes remain deeply committed to philanthropy and inclusion. Over the past three decades, the organization has donated more than $55 million to scholarships, film restoration projects, and humanitarian causes, while supporting programs that expand access and representation within Hollywood.

Produced by Dick Clark Productions, “Hollywood’s Party of the Year®” continues to unite memory and innovation, honoring the artists who define our time. By recognizing Sarah Jessica Parker, the Golden Globes pay tribute not only to a beloved performer but also to a cultural era — one where television became one of the most powerful mirrors of our lives.
