The head of government, Sarra Zaafrani Zenzeri, chaired Tuesday, November 18 at the Kasbah Palace the sixth meeting of the Major Projects Commission, devoted to two strategic components: the relaunch of the Mazouna industrial complex in Sidi Bouzid and the acceleration of several hospital projects in the governorates of Sfax and Kasserine.
From the opening of the session, she insisted on the obligation to move quickly and respect deadlines for the completion of public projects in all regions.
The Minister of Health, Mostafa Ferjani, detailed the progress of the reconstruction work on the main building of the Hédi Chaker university hospital in Sfax, as well as the rehabilitation efforts of the Bîr Ali Ben Khalifa hospital and the finalization of the construction site of the new Talla regional hospital (category B) in the governorate of Kasserine. These projects directly affect access to care in regions where demand is high and infrastructure is often aging.
The Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, for her part presented the components of the project to restart the Mazouna industrial complex. At the heart of the program, the creation of a unit for manufacturing and printing plastic bags of different formats, as well as a fertilizer packaging unit. This restart has two objectives: to replace the importation of these products with local production, thus reducing supply times and costs for Tunisian companies, and to revive economic activity in an area where employment is rare and industrial dynamics limited.
According to the projections presented, the renovated complex will recreate a productive ecosystem in Mazouna and offer stable jobs to young people in the region and neighboring localities, thus strengthening the national industrial fabric while helping to reduce imports in a sector with high demand.
At the end of the discussions, the Commission announced two major decisions: the immediate launch of procedures relating to hospital projects in Sfax, Bîr Ali and Talla, and the official integration of the Mazouna industrial project into the list of major national projects.
Sarra Zaafrani Zenzeri concluded by calling on central and regional officials to remove administrative obstacles, intensify field visits and ensure continuous monitoring in order to deliver this infrastructure on time and with the quality expected by citizens. For the government, these projects represent levers to strengthen the presence of the State, respond to the needs of populations and revitalize regions that have long been awaiting structuring investments.
