For the 2026 baccalaureate session, the Ministry of Education is putting in place a series of exceptional measures intended for candidates with disabilities or specific learning disorders. Extra time, adapted rooms, readers, human aids or medical tools: an expanded system which aims to guarantee equal opportunities during written and practical tests.
The ministry is introducing enhanced accommodations for students with physical disabilities that affect writing speed. They will benefit from a third of additional time for each written test, as well as a special dedicated room to ensure comfort and concentration.
New accommodations for visually impaired people
Candidates who are completely incapable of writing may seek the assistance of a student scribe, selected according to the usual procedures.
For visually impaired students, the system is available according to the degree of impairment:
- Enlargement of subjects for moderate visual disabilities,
- Third extra time,
- Furnished room,
- Possibility of requesting a student assistant.
Candidates who have suffered sudden vision loss will benefit from the same rights, reinforced by the provision of a reader responsible for reading the exam subjects to them.
Hearing disability, cognitive disorders and autism spectrum
Candidates suffering from a hearing disability will be allowed to keep their hearing aids, while benefiting from a third of additional time and a specific room – a system also applied to students with a mild mental disability.
The ministry extends these same arrangements to students with:
- specific learning disorders,
- autism spectrum disorders,
- the so-called “children of the moon” pathology, for which a specially equipped room will be provided.
Arrangements for practical tests and management of medical needs
During the practical tests, the measurements continue:
- enlargement of supports,
- third of additional time,
- authorized use of hearing aids,
- private space for certain candidates if necessary.
Students with diabetes will be allowed to use their blood glucose monitoring device to ensure their safety throughout exams.
The General Directorate of Examinations specifies that each candidate will be assigned one or more of these measures according to the analysis of their medical file. The stated objective: adapt the examination conditions as closely as possible to individual needs, without deviating from the rigorous framework of the baccalaureate.
