The draw for the 2026 African Cup of Nations, carried out on Friday by the African Handball Confederation, placed Tunisia in a Group C within its reach. The Eagles will face Guinea, Cameroon and Kenya during the tournament scheduled in Rwanda from January 21 to 31.

A favorable draw for the Eagles

The draw for the final phase of the 2026 African Handball Cup of Nations has delivered its verdict: Tunisia will play in Group C, where it will find Guinea, Cameroon and Kenya. A group considered balanced but generally accessible for a selection which is still aiming for the last continental square.

The competition will take place in Rwanda from January 21 to 31, 2026, with sixteen teams divided into four groups.

Cautious confidence around selection

In the first on-the-spot analyses, several observers believe that this draw offers Tunisia a manageable start, even if Guinea and Cameroon are progressing from year to year. Kenya, in full renewal, appears to be the least experienced opponent of the group.

The pressure, however, remains high for the Eagles, regularly expected among the title contenders with Egypt.

  • Group A: Algeria, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zambia
  • Group B: Egypt, Angola, Gabon, Uganda
  • Group C: Tunisia, Guinea, Cameroon, Kenya
  • Group D: Cape Verde, Morocco, Congo, Benin

The African Handball Nations Championship, which has been organized every two years since 1974, is dominated by three nations: Tunisia (10 titles), Egypt (9 titles) and Algeria (7 titles), with no other nation having won a title.

The defending champion is Egypt, who won their 9th title in 2024 while Tunisia won their last title in 2018.
