The Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, met on Thursday evening a group of Tunisian doctors, researchers and students based in the south of France, during a meeting organized at the Tunisian residence in Marseille.
According to a press release from the ministry, several proposals were discussed, the most important of which concerns the facilitation of the recognition of diplomas obtained abroad.
The minister also raised the possibility of authorizing Tunisian skills residing abroad to practice partially in Tunisia, within public health establishments. A measure which would, according to those we spoke to, make it possible to strengthen medical teams, enrich local expertise and take advantage of know-how acquired internationally.
Solidarity initiatives
This meeting was held on the sidelines of the minister’s participation in the Marseille Forum on artificial intelligence. It also made it possible to discuss ways of supporting solidarity initiatives in the fields of training and research, as well as the project to create an electronic platform intended to identify Tunisian medical skills abroad and to connect them with health institutions in Tunisia.
Dr Ferjani presented, on this occasion, an overview of the main lines of the reform of the Tunisian health system, focused on equity, bringing medical services closer to citizens and improving their quality. He insisted on the strategic role that Tunisian skills can play abroad to support this transformation and contribute to strengthening the sector.
