The United States Embassy in Tunisia announced, this Monday, the arrival of new Ambassador Bill Bazzi in Tunis to officially begin his mission aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, according to a press release published on the embassy’s Facebook page.
Bill Bazzi was sworn in in October 2025 as United States ambassador to Tunisia. Prior to his appointment to the diplomatic corps, he served as Mayor of the City of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, following his election in 2021. He previously served as Acting President of the City Council.
From Dearborn Heights to Tunis: a rich and varied journey
Prior to his entry into diplomacy, Bill Bazzi served for 21 years in the United States Marine Corps, where he held several command positions. After his military career, he worked at two major U.S. Fortune 500 companies.
He notably worked at the Boeing Group as director of quality and lead auditor, then at Ford Motor Company as a product development engineer, helping to strengthen public safety and economic performance through regulatory audits and compliance initiatives.
Graduated with a master’s degree in aviation science and a bachelor’s degree in professional aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Bill Bazzi is beginning a new stage in his career in the service of American diplomacy in Tunis.
