Angry pharmacists: SPOT denounces the non-payment of sums owed by the CNAM

The Union of Community Pharmacists of Tunisia (SPOT) launched, on Monday, an urgent appeal to the authorities to intervene in the face of non-payment of part of the amounts owed by the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM), despite the availability of funds from tripartite contributions.

The union denounces an “unjustified and abusive” decision

In a press release, SPOT states that the CNAM has decided unilaterally not to settle certain debts owed to pharmacists, without legal or logical justification.

The union considers that this attitude “undermines the principle of public service management” and calls into question the commitments made by the Fund within the framework of the agreements and legislation in force.

SPOT calls on the government and the Ministry of Social Affairs to assume their responsibilities and intervene immediately to correct what it describes as an “abusive administrative decision”.

The union warns that it reserves the right to undertake all institutional and legal actions necessary to defend the dignity of the profession and the rights of its members.

A break in trust with the CNAM

The union considers this situation as “a serious precedent in the history of the Tunisian administration”, denouncing a blatant disengagement of the CNAM from its social and contractual obligations.

This tension adds to a series of recurring disputes between the fund and pharmacists, often linked to reimbursement delays and pharmacies’ cash flow difficulties.
