The budget of the Ministry of the Interior for the 2026 financial year amounts to 6.3 billion dinars, an increase of 5% compared to the previous year. A significant part will be devoted to modernizing equipment, security infrastructure and recruiting nearly 2,900 new agents.

An increasing overall envelope, driven by investment

Presented Monday, November 10, 2025 during a plenary session of the National Council of Regions and Districts (CNRD), the joint report of the Defense, Security and Armed Forces and Internal Regulations, Immunity and Legal Affairs committees details a budget of 6,304.8 million dinars for the Ministry of the Interior.

The expenses are distributed as follows:

  • Salaries: 4160.8 MD
  • Management: 374.9 MD
  • Interventions: 1323.7 MD
  • Investment: 380.35 MD

Investment increases by 57% compared to 2025, a jump intended to finance the purchase of means of transport, security and control equipment, as well as the construction of new centers and barracks. Two training academies — one for the police, the other for the national guard — are also planned.

The ministry is also focusing on the modernization of the technical and scientific police system, a strategic axis in strengthening investigation and prevention capacities.

Targeted distribution by program

The credits are broken down according to the following major programs:

  • National security: 2459.3 MD
  • National Guard: 1664.5 MD
  • Civil protection: 373.7 MD
  • Local affairs: 1132.1 MD
  • Supervision and support: 610.3 MD

This structure reflects the ministry’s desire to strengthen coordination between the different security bodies and to consolidate proximity with local communities.

Recruitment and strengthening of the workforce

As part of this budget, 2,900 recruitments are planned in 2026:

  • 1000 agents for national security
  • 1500 agents for the national guard
  • 400 civil protection agents

These new integrations aim to compensate for retirements and strengthen the presence on the ground, particularly in border and rural areas.
