The investigating judge of the economic and financial judicial center ordered, this Wednesday, November 5, 2025, the release of the former president of the Sfaxien Sports Club (CSS) Abdelaziz Makhloufi, subject to a deposit of 50 million dinars paid to the Public Treasury.
The decision comes after the examination of a request for release filed by the defense of Makhloufi, detained since last year in connection with a case of suspected financial and administrative corruption linked to the Henchir Chaâl agricultural complex, under the Ministry of Agriculture.
An emblematic affair of public management
The Henchir Chaâl file dates back to 2024, when the financial judicial center issued arrest warrants against several officials, including Abdelaziz Makhloufi and executives from the Ministry of Agriculture.
The investigations concern alleged irregularities in the management of the complex, suspected of having been the subject of embezzlement and favoritism practices for the benefit of certain private parties.
This complex, located in the governorate of Sfax, represents a strategic agricultural project for the region. Judicial authorities are seeking to determine the exact responsibilities in the transactions and decisions that led to the loss of public resources.
A turbulent legal journey
Abdelaziz Makhloufi had already appeared in another case, of a customs nature, from which he was acquitted.
His name nevertheless remains associated with several files relating to the economic and administrative management of public establishments, in a national context marked by an intensification of investigations into corruption.
