Esperance de Tunis continues its winning streak in the championship. The “Blood and Gold” won Thursday evening against Club Athlétique Bizertin (2-0), at the end of the 11th day of Ligue 1, and came back just one length behind the leading duo formed by Club Africain and Stade Tunisien.
Freshly qualified for the group stage of the Champions League, Maher Kanzari’s men confirmed their solidity in the championship. They opened the scoring shortly before the break thanks to Algerian Koussayla Boualia (41′), before sealing the fate of the match in added time through Achraf Jabri (90′).
This new victory illustrates the rise in power of the Esperantist group, which displays fluid play and newfound confidence, both on the national and continental scene.
For CA Bizertin, the evening was much more complicated. Beaten, the Northerners suffered their fifth setback of the season and slipped to 10th place with 12 points. Despite a few offensive bursts, they never seemed able to counter the tactical and physical superiority of Esperance.
