Tunisia signs a resounding feat on the world taekwondo scene. Tunisian champion Wafa Masghouni won the gold medal this Wednesday at the World Championships organized in China, in the -62 kg category.

A resounding victory in the final

Wafa Masghouni won brilliantly in the final against Hungarian Viviana Marton, reigning Olympic champion and number one seed in the tournament.

An exceptional performance for the Tunisian, who dominated the debates with confidence and composure, confirming her rise to power on the international scene.

A historic first for Tunisia

This world title constitutes a first in the history of Tunisian women’s taekwondo. Masghouni’s victory recognizes years of work and self-sacrifice, while offering Tunisia a place of choice among the great nations of the discipline.

Remember that a year ago, the young Wafa Masghouni, reigning African and Arab champion, won the gold medal at the -63 kg Junior Taekwondo World Championship in Cheonggyecheon in South Korea.

National pride and international recognition

Beyond the medal, this victory symbolizes the success of Tunisian women’s sport, now capable of competing with the best athletes in the world.

The triumph of Wafa Masghouni enriches the track record of Tunisian taekwondo and strengthens the visibility of the national sport on the international scene.

Last Saturday, Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi won the world gold medal in the -63 kg category, after a controlled final against the Iranian Ali Haj Mousaei.
