Strong tension is once again shaking the local scene in Kasserine. In a press release made public Monday October 20, 2025, several deputies of the National Council of Regions and Districts representing the region, joined by members of the regional council and local councils, called for the immediate dismissal of the governor of Kasserine.
In a press release, elected officials affirm that “working with the governor has become impossible due to his attitude of exclusion and marginalization towards them”.
This position highlights a new standoff between elected representatives and the regional authority, in a context marked by recurring tensions around local governance and the sharing of skills between institutions.
According to several local sources, tensions between elected officials and the governor are not new. Disagreements over the management of development projects and the distribution of resources have gradually deteriorated relations between the two parties. Some elected officials denounce in particular a lack of transparency and consultation in decision-making, believing that the governor “acts unilaterally, without taking into account the representative bodies resulting from local elections”.
No official reaction from the governor has yet been released. But this new revolt from local elected officials highlights a growing climate of mistrust between the regional administration and the representatives of the people, in a region already marked by development delays and a strong feeling of marginalization.
