Tunisian researcher Habiba Zéhi Ben Romdhane has been ranked among the 2% of the most influential scientists in the world, according to Stanford University’s 2025 ranking, the National Council of the Order of Physicians (CNOM) announced on Tuesday.

This world reference ranking, recognized for its rigor and independence, evaluates researchers according to their scientific impact across 22 disciplines and 176 sub-disciplines, based on the quality and scope of their publications.

A pioneer of Tunisian public health

Doctor, academic and former Minister of Health, Professor Ben Romdhane is today professor of preventive medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis, where she directs the research laboratory in epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis, she pursued studies in public health at Laval University (Canada) and the University of Chicago (United States). She is also an expert with the World Health Organization (WHO), particularly on issues of prevention and health policies.

International recognition of a course of excellence

Rewarded on several occasions, notably by the Maghreb Societies of Medical Sciences prize, Professor Ben Romdhane is a founding member of several Tunisian and international associations, including the Tunisian Epidemiology Association. Its inclusion in the Stanford ranking recognizes more than three decades of commitment to public health and scientific research in Tunisia and the Maghreb.
