The American channel CBS and Dick Clark Productions (DCP), the world’s largest producer of live television entertainment programs, have just announced the creation of a new television event which is already shaping up to be a highlight of the Hollywood awards season. Baptized Golden Evethis annual prime time program will be dedicated to the winners of the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award and Carol Burnett Award. The first edition will be broadcast nationally on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, as well as streaming on Paramount+.

Designed as an exceptional event, Golden Eve will take place during the very first “Golden Week”, a week entirely dedicated to celebrating the Golden Globes across Paramount platforms. This unique initiative will precede the big evening of the 83rd Golden Globes®, which will be held on Sunday January 11, 2026 and will be presented live by comedian and actress Nikki Glaseralready nominated for the Golden Globes, Grammy Awards and Emmy Awards.

A new showcase for Hollywood legends

The idea of this special evening is to give real visibility to the two honorary distinctions which occupy a unique place in the history of the Golden Globes. Too often limited to a few minutes during the official ceremony, they will now find a tailor-made setting, with more extensive tributes and exclusive sequences retracing the career and cultural impact of distinguished personalities.

Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, notes: “ With Golden Evewe will celebrate the most influential figures in the industry. This is a special moment to pay tribute to them beyond the simple presentation of a prize. This event, at the heart of Golden Week, will position the Golden Globes as a multi-day cultural experience, a true pillar of the awards season.”

On the CBS side, Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, emphasizes the channel’s desire to amplify its commitment to artistic creation: “ With Golden Eve And Golden Weekwe are going to make the Golden Globes an immersive and unifying moment that will bring the public closer to one of the most emblematic events in Hollywood. »

Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes, adds: “ The goal is to offer the public a more intimate look at the legacy of our winners and to share memorable moments with them. We want to make this evening, alongside CBS and Paramount, an unforgettable television moment. »

A natural evolution after the success of the Golden Gala

The announcement of Golden Eve follows on from the “Golden Gala” organized the previous year, where Viola Davis (Cecil B. DeMille Award – Cecil B. DeMille Prize) and Ted Danson (Carol Burnett Award – Carol Burnett Prize) were honored. Building on this welcome, the evening is transformed into an annual program built around career retrospectives, unpublished archives and exclusive interviews with the winners.

These two awards, which embody the living memory of the Golden Globes, benefit from a long tradition. Created in 1952, the Cecil B. DeMille Award has already rewarded 69 major personalities of world cinema, including Walt Disney, Audrey Hepburn, Sidney Poitier, Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Redford, Barbra Streisand, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Oprah Winfrey. The Carol Burnett Award, established in 2019 in tribute to the legendary actress and comedian who was its first recipient, recognizes careers that have had a lasting impact on the television world, in front of and behind the camera.

The Golden Globes, a global institution

Considered “Hollywood’s most glamorous party,” the Golden Globes are distinguished by their exceptional international coverage, with broadcast in more than 185 countries and territories. Since their creation in 1944, they have honored achievements in film and television, and more recently in podcasting. They have also established themselves as a committed player, having donated more than $55 million to entertainment-related charities, financing scholarship programs, film restoration projects and even initiatives promoting access to the audiovisual industry for underrepresented communities.

The organization and production of the Golden Globes is the responsibility of Dick Clark Productions, which also has an extensive catalog of iconic events, ranging from American Music Awards At Billboard Music Awards passing through the mythical Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

For two years, I myself have had the honor of being international voting member (international vote), a rare distinction which makes me the only Tunisian critic, resident in Tunisia, to exercise this function. To be associated with this adventure is to enter the heart of a process which shapes the visibility of works and the careers of many artists. Beyond the prestige, it is a real responsibility: that of bringing a Tunisian and Arab voice to a Hollywood institution which has long been centered on a limited horizon. My vote, like that of the other members, reflects a conviction: cinema must be viewed in all its diversity, in all its cultural richness, and it is a unique opportunity to be able to contribute to it.

With Golden Evethe Golden Globes take a new step in their desire to magnify not only the annual performances but also the trajectories of artists and creators whose imprint goes beyond the framework of cinema and television. The inaugural edition, scheduled for January 2026, will be awaited as one of the major cultural events of the season, marking the opening of a “Golden Week” set to become an essential ritual of the Hollywood winter.
