Ceasefire in Gaza: Tunis expresses its deep relief

Tunisia forcefully reaffirmed its constant and principled position in favor of the Palestinian cause, welcoming the ceasefire agreement concluded in Gaza after two years marked by crimes of systematic extermination and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.

In an official statement, Tunis expressed its deep relief at this truce, while paying tribute to the resilience of the Palestinian people. It salutes the courage and sacrifices of those who, at the cost of their blood, resisted the occupier’s machine of war and destruction, defending their legitimate right to freedom and self-determination.

Tunisia also highlights the Arab and international efforts that led to this agreement, while warning against any attempt by the Zionist regime to renege on its commitments, as was the case many times in the past. It calls on the international community to fully assume its responsibilities in order to ensure the permanence of the ceasefire, the total lifting of the blockade on Gaza and the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid.

Tunis also insists on the importance of accelerating the reconstruction of devastated areas to guarantee dignified living conditions for the Palestinian people, based on security and justice.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that this ceasefire agreement cannot obscure the need to prosecute those responsible for the crimes of occupation, and reiterates its absolute refusal of any attempt aimed at uprooting the Palestinian people or liquidating their legitimate cause.

Faithful to its historic position, Tunisia finally renews its unconditional support for the struggles of the Palestinian people for the recovery of their inalienable rights and the establishment of an independent and sovereign state over the entire territory of Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital.
