A special flight from Turkish Airlines is due to take off from Israel this Saturday to bring citizens from several countries back to them, including 25 Tunisians, arrested during the interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, the international humanitarian fleet attempting to transport help to Gaza.
The flight is also expected with passengers from the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Morocco, Italy, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Mauritania, Switzerland, Tunisia and Jordan, according to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
An international repatriation operation
The flight must land at Istanbul airport in the afternoon of Saturday. The procedures for the repatriation of Turkish citizens are underway, with the aim of guaranteeing the rapid return of all prisoners. This initiative is part of international diplomatic efforts to resolve the situation of humanitarian activists and volunteers arrested by the Zionist entity.
The Global Sumud Flatilla, composed of around 40 boats and more than 450 activists, had been intercepted in the Mediterranean Sea by Israeli forces. This operation had aroused international conviction, especially due to the presence of civilians and media figures such as Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.
